The founder

I couldn't switch off.

For the last three years I've been building a marketing agency. I was all in. I'd forgotten something I always believed in: slowing down, and getting out of my own head. Nothing in my day reminded me.

Then, at three in the morning, it came together all at once: my interest in the mind, my family's roots in jewelry, everything I'd learned as an entrepreneur. My parents ran a jewelry wholesale business, with ties to factories that do exceptional work. A ring. On my hand every day, so I never forget again.

It's the first thing I've built around everything I care about. I want it on as many hands as I can, because I believe everything starts with the breath.

I built the thing I wish I'd had.

Train your mind the way you train your body.

FAQ

Before you ask.

What is it?

A ring that turns like the bezel on a watch. Nine clicks around, a breath for each. When the dot's back under your thumb, that's your nine.

Is it a fidget spinner or a smart ring?

Neither. A fidget spinner keeps your hands busy; this gives you a reason to stop. It never spins freely: each of its nine clicks lands in place, like the bezel on a watch. And there's nothing smart about it: no sensors, no tracking, no data, nothing to charge. It's jewelry with a movement inside.

What's it made of?

316L stainless steel, 6 mm wide: a brushed band with polished bevelled edges. We're working on titanium.

How do I do my nine?

Thumb on the Return Point, the one concave dot on the band. One click at the end of each out-breath; the ring keeps the count, so you don't have to. About a minute and a half, never rushed. If your mind wanders, come back to the next click. When the dot meets your thumb again, that's your nine.

Will anyone hear it, or will it turn by accident?

Barely, and no. You feel each click more than anyone hears it, and each one takes a deliberate push from your thumb. It never spins freely.

Can I wear it in the shower or at the gym?

Yes. It's water resistant, so it can stay on in the shower and at the gym.

Why nine, and why "NINE BEFORE"?

Nine unhurried breaths is a minute or so: long enough to come back, short enough to do at the door of a meeting. Each click sits 40° apart, far enough that you feel every one. And the name is the ritual: nine clicks, before the moment that matters.

Is it only for big moments?

No. The big moments are where it's easiest to see, but most of a day happens on a screen, with feeds and notifications built to pull your attention somewhere else, all day long. The ring is on your hand the whole time: a small, physical reminder to come back to your body, wherever you are. Before the meeting, the drive home, dinner, the front door. Every moment deserves you in it.

Why the breath?

Because it's the one thing you always have with you, and the one part of your body's automatic rhythm you can take over on purpose. Each click falls at the end of an out-breath, so the count follows your breathing, not a clock. The ring doesn't change your breath; it keeps the count, and it's always on your hand to remind you. Breathe naturally, with no holding and no forcing, and if you ever feel lightheaded, stop and breathe as you normally would.
